| 11 Jan. We arrived in Mobile and started to tend to the business of finishing
work on the boat before we left. So we spent several days with John in the engine room and Pat sanding the rails. After a quick pullout to check bottom of the boat we were finally ready to start the next leg of the journey. The Dog River Marina is really a well equipped boatyard, win minimal amenities. (That's "At Ease" up on blocks in the middle distance) |

| Down here, they refer to covered slips as "stalls". The empty stall was ours. We had to drop our mast and antennas to avoid hitting the roof at high tide. Nice to be under cover for painting and varnishing. | |
| Local color in a creek off Dog River. Don't mess with these folks! Lots
of shrimp fishing boats tied up and for sale around Mobile. The U.S. shrimping
industry is hurting badly due to low-price competition from Ecuador, Africa
and Southeast Asia. |

| Friday, 16 Jan. Finally underway again! We got a late start and didn't get to Pensacola before dark. Stopped at Southwind Marina about 8 miles short of Pensacola. Great restaurant |
